Tower Hamlets is proud to be the home of various cultures, flavours and scents from around the world. However, ethical confusion amongst communities particularly youths is also contributory to a degree of segregation and violence resulting in crime and disorder.

Mahua Youth Project’s objective is to support and lead the work on tackling crime, making Tower Hamlets a social place to live, in an attempt to bring communities together through the involvement of local youth in sports.

By introducing Super 8 Challenger Cup our aim to attract local cricket clubs from all over the London in a friendly competition to promote social inclusion, in an attempt to improve racial integration and develop partnership within the community whilst at the same time promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The teams will be playing to win not only the title of Super Eight Challenger Champions 2008 but also a first prize of £1000, with the runners up receiving £500.The competition will be a very high profile event and will attract very strong media coverage. The final, itself, will be played in the presence of some distinguished sporting guests, accompanied by a gala closing ceremony with the motive of providing a fun day out for all the family.

The entire series will be managed by Mahua Youth project and the board members will be constituted by eminent sport personalities from various sports organisations.

Mahua Youth Project is looking for business and corporate support

Please note that we have a registration fee of £10 per player i.e a total of £80 for a team

About Mahua Youth Project

Just as the arts play a significant part in the developing of communities, so do sporting activities and events.  Mahua Youth recognises the integral nature of sports and so will introduce sporting events as a platform to engage with communities and bring them together.  This programme will be initiated by a cricket tournament this summer in which we will be involving international cricket players as well as offering the winners a substantial cash prize.  We will also introduce and promote two other popular games into future tournaments, Carrom and Chess.  Mahua Youth also plans to introduce a youth exchange programme with Asians based in the other countries including the Asian subcontinent.
