Hottomala Shows

small-zindegi-sp-landsc.jpgHottomala had three successful shows one at the Brady Arts Centre and other two at Bloomsbury Theatre. People who missed will have the opportunity to see it. We will be starting our touring programme soon; In addition to few shows in London, we will take the show to a number of venues nationally and internationally.

What they said:

“Although I am familiar with Indian film this was my first experience of Bengali theatre and I was pleasantly surprised. I was aware that not all the cast were professional actors, however this didn’t show in their performance . The colour and vibrancy of this production really made it an experience to remember and I would be very excited to see more productions of Bengali origin.”

About Mahua Arts Project

Driven by the success of our last workshop in which we attracted over 30 people aging from 9 to 70 to work together, Mahua Arts have identified a strong need within communities to engage with and nurture the new talents. Mahua Arts has the capacity and recognises the necessity to provide comprehensive means to train and develop Asian talent through advanced acting courses for both film and theatre.  This year we aim to also focus on the development of modern Indian dance.  Mahua Arts is not only in a position to provide vital training and mentoring for new talents but through our strong relationship with TV networks and also through our own productions we are able to take new talent to the next level by providing job opportunities.

About Mahua Productions

Mahua Productions aims to present and promote a contemporary vision of Asian culture through theatre and film. This has already been hugely successful with Mahua’s theatrical production Ranjana which was acclaimed by critics and was so successful on the stage that it has now been made into a DVD. Current projects include the theatre production Hottomala the Wonderland which will start touring London at the beginning of June and will be a fusion of physical theatre, stunning visuals, dance and music. Although the primary audience will be Bengalis of Bangladesh and Indian origin Mahua Productions is presenting theatre with sub titles in order to cross the language barrier and therefore make it a production accessible to everyone. A feature film is also on the agenda which will start production in August and September.

Welcome to Mahua

About Us

Mahua is based seven minutes away from the vibrant business hub of Canary Wharf. Situated in a spacious building within the Skylines village complex, we have space to offer to performing groups for rehearsals, workshops and small meetings. Also available is a recently renovated open plan desk space with two separate offices and a shared meeting room that would suit small creative businesses.

Aims & Objectives

WorkshopsMahua aims to bring the best of Asian culture to the west by means of incorporating the arts, sports and youth activities from the Indian subcontinent. Through these forms Mahua will transcend the cultural barriers of communities and bring them together through the love of the arts, sport and youth development. Mahua aims to discover, nurture and present new Asian talent to the world through a programme of youth development.

As a company we recognise the importance in investing in the future of our community and by training, engaging, supporting and presenting the arts, Mahua is targeting a need by the community which previously never been addressed in such a way.
